Opportunities for Current JUNIORS
Golden Apple Scholarship: Scholarship for students wanting to be teachers. Special consideration for minority students and first generation students. Application process begins in the early fall. Go to www.goldenapple.org for details and information. See your counselor to be nominated.
Leadership Development Opportunity-Juniors (or Seniors) Future Leaders in Planning ((integrates planning for land use & transportation in the 7 counties of northeastern Illinois. )Apply by May 28th, 2010 for a program next year. The program is 7 Saturdays throughut the school year. Campaign Internship Program-work on campaign for Ruth Munson. Dates: May 15th - November 4th. Must complete 200 service hours. Stipend of $750 if complete all service hours. High-need fields are: Bilingual Educatio;n, Foreign Lanaguage, Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Science, Special Education. Value: $4,000 yearly. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation- You must be the son or daughter of a Marine. You must be a High school senior with financial need (family income below $80,000.) Apply www.mcsf.org Award: one year scholarship $1,000- $12,500
Stuck at Prom Scholarship Program- If you have a creative mind then this is for you. Must enter as a couple and attend their high school prom wearing complete attire or accessories made from duct tape. Apply www.stuckatprom.com Award : 1st-$3,000, 2nd- $2,000, 3rd $1,000 (Spring)
Pfizer Epilepsy Scholarship- You must be a student that has epilepsy. Apply www.epilepsyscholarship.com Award: $3,000.
National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program- If you are legally blind in both eyes and meet other requirements. Apply www.nfb.org. Award: Varies
Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver- You must be registered in a program of special education at a university. Be a US citizen, or eligible noncitizen. Be a legal resident of Illinois. Apply www.collegezone.com/

Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver-Must be a permanent resident of Illinois, admitted to the University of Illinois by March 1st, child of a veteran, provide copy of your veteran parent's DD form 214, must provide own ACT scores. Douglas Cutinello Memorial Scholarship- in honor of Douglas Cutinello one $2,500 non-renewable scholarship will be presented to the student that best meets the criteria set forth in the application. The student must plan to continue their education at a university or two or 4 year college, vocational school or business school in the United States.
